Swahili Now!

Classes in Swahili will give youth and young adults an opportunity to speak and understand a language that comes from Africa, further building their connection with the African continent. Additionally, learning another language will improve the marketability of our participants in the employment field. They will be taught by a former Ugandan educator who is a native speaker of Swahili. These classes will not only be offered to the youth and young adults but also to the larger community for a reasonable fee.

 

We are offering Swahili Courses to the greater community at large. Our package for the community will include downloadable courses on Zoom that will include 5 lessons of Swahili for Beginners. The professor of this course will be Shahidu Tahakaba, affectionately known as, “Mwalimu” (Swahili for “Teacher”). Professor Mwalimu is a native Ugandan who has been teaching Swahili professionally for 14 years to youth and adults. He has developed curriculum specific to the student’s individual needs.

 

Professor Mwalimu will have office hours 2 hours a day on both Saturday and Sunday once a month, where students can speak directly with him, asking questions and completing supplemental lessons that will enhance their knowledge and understanding of the language.
